Cookie Policy

This site uses very few cookies. The ones that make the basket work are set automatically; anything used for measurement is set only if you agree in the notice at the bottom of the page.

01What a cookie is

A cookie is a short text entry your browser keeps for a website so the site can recognise the same visit or the same device later. Browser storage (local storage) works in a similar way but is never sent to the server. Both are covered by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, which is why we ask before setting anything that is not strictly necessary.

02Strictly necessary

These are needed for the shop to function and do not require consent:

  • cookie_consent: records whether you accepted or declined optional cookies. Kept for one year.
  • session basket: a session identifier that links the items in your basket to your visit. It expires when the session ends and holds no personal details.
  • joypadandco_favorites: a local storage entry in your own browser listing items you have marked with the heart. It never leaves your device and can be cleared from the Saved items page.

03Analytics

If you accept optional cookies we may record anonymous page views to see which parts of the catalogue are used. No analytics cookie is set before you choose "Got it", and declining has no effect on your ability to order.

At the time of writing no analytics tool is installed. This section will be updated with the specific cookie names and lifetimes if that changes.

04Payment providers

When you go through to payment, the provider you choose (card payment, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay) may set its own cookies on its own pages for fraud prevention. Those are governed by the provider's policy, not this one.

05How to change your choice

Delete the cookie_consent cookie in your browser settings and the notice will appear again on your next visit. Every modern browser also lets you block cookies entirely; if you do, the basket will not remember items between pages.
